Have tickets for KA and yippee - for Spamalot. Then Memorial Day weekend at Yosemite, Gold route Hwy 49 to Sacramento, on to Ashland for Shakespeare play - up Central Oregon to see the Spruce Goose. I have enjoyed all the TA tips this past year - I am a retired travel Agent and my hobby is genealolgy - Its been a real joy with all the Virtual Vegas gang especially you and the animals. I hope they will let us get to 1000 posts. I'm sure Lowrance will have good suggestions, but I'll put in my two cents also. For dinner, if you want to be in the Cannery Row area, I think the best spot is the Fish Hopper-right on the water and a very good menu. A really nice spot is Roy's at Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach. You can easily get to it from Pacific Grove by entering Pebble Beach through either the Pacific Grove or Country Club Gate. You have to pay an $8.50 fee to get in, but Roy's validates, so you'll get it back. Roy's has very good food, and the views are wonderful. For lunch, if you're in Pacific Grove, you can't beat the Red House Cafe-excellent. I didn't know you could eat at the Cheese Shop, but I may be wrong about that.
Another place that is also in Carmel Plaza is Patisserie Boisierre-very cozy little place. I haven't had dessert at Nepenthe so can't comment on the quality, but the views are fantastic. A lot of steps to climb to get to the restaurant, though-I don't know if that's an issue. If you're only going to be in Monterey for that one night, go with PG's suggestion of the Fish Hopper.
